Our Services

PDP provides assistance across four broad technical areas: governance and public management, economic policy, social policy and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Select main category or sub-category for details of our expertise in each of these areas.

Microfinance & SME Development

Increasing poverty and lack of employment opportunities in the formal sector in many of the world’s poorest economies have forced many disadvantaged people to resort to self-employment and informal employment activities. As is often the case, many poor are unable to sustain their modest economic activities without assistance. PDP helps in the design, development, implementation and monitoring of programs and projects that support microfinance and SME development. Our projects are designed to realise and sustain commercial viability, facilitate the emergence and development of microfinance suppliers and consumers, strengthen domestic capacity to support these sectors, mobilise stakeholder awareness (both users and suppliers of microfinance) and contribute to overall market/sector development and growth.

PDP has substantial experience in linking policy level reform to both private and public sector support organisations. We work with the emerging market development paradigm and matching grant schemes for the microfinance and SME sectors. Our projects are often linked to demonstrable development and poverty reduction targets or specific indicators of sector performance and/or market development.
